Super Mario Maker 2 (NSP ROM)

This mod replaces the official Nintendo server, allowing you to upload your levels and play levels created by other users on hacked Switch consoles or emulators.

Note:

• It uses its own set of levels; official Nintendo course codes are NOT supported.
• Online multiplayer (Versus/Co-op) is NOT supported.

Installation Guide:

Visit the [Open Course World website] and link your Twitch or Discord account.

Go to “Setup” -> “Switch/Atmosphere”.

Download the LayeredFS Mod: Extract the archive from step 2 of the website’s instructions to the root of your SD Card.

Download your Unique Config: Every account has a unique configuration file. (Note: Only one config can be active at a time. If you download a new one, the old one will be revoked. Do NOT share this file, or you will be banned).

Place the config file into the root of your SD Card.

Ensure the game is updated to the latest version (Tested and working on v3.0.3).

Connect your Switch to the internet (Flight Mode: OFF), launch the game, select “Course World,” and play like a Pro!

27,720 Top Levels Included: This release features a massive collection of the best levels, ranging from Easy to Super Expert difficulties. These were curated between June 28, 2019, and April 1, 2024 (Week 416).

Included Dumps:

Online dumps by Cris, bazqux, Rodriguinho5677, and SilverShadow.

Setup Checkpoint: Copy the Checkpoint.nro file from the /Offline Custom Levels (Weeks)/switch/ folder to the /switch/ folder on the root of your microSD card.

Extract Level Packs: Extract the level packs into separate folders following this path structure on your microSD:

/switch/Checkpoint/saves/0x01009B90006DC000 SUPER MARIO MAKER 2/Week_AAA/

(Repeat for Week_BBB, Week_CCC, etc.)

Backup Your Progress: If you have played before, backup your existing save and castle:

• Hold the R button and launch any game to enter the Homebrew Menu.
• Open Checkpoint, select SMM2, press A, then press L, then A, and OK.
• Note: If you’ve never played, launch the game once and close it to initialize save data.

Restore Custom Levels: * Open Checkpoint (via R-holding method), select SMM2, and press A.

Highlight the Level Pack you want to play, then press R, then A to restore it.

How to Play In-Game:

1. Launch the game, press L+R to start.
2. Go to Play > Coursebot.
3. Press R to switch to the “Downloaded Courses” tab.
4. Select your level and hit Play!

Change Language (Optional): Use DBI > Browse installed applications > A > + > Force language.

Switching Packs: To play a different pack, repeat the restore process in Checkpoint (Step 4).

To play together, you must first create your own level or import levels from other players via Checkpoint (see instructions above). Then, select “Network Play” — look for the small, inconspicuous button on the right sidebar with 4 player icons. From there, simply sync and turn on your additional Joy-Cons to start playing!
